February 17 2019. These beautiful ice formations were photographed before sunrise at the Lake Superior North Shore close to the Cascade River State Park. I was captivated by the shapes the ice created. It was 4 degrees Fahrenheit that morning, but fortunately not windy. I love those moments of tranquility and usually forgot about how cold it is, but also tend to dress for the occasion. This includes a pair of crampons to not slip & fall on the ice ;)
